Makeup classes and retakes

5 minUpdated August 2026For school owners, instructors, students

What you'll do

You will set your school's makeup policy once, then see how a missed class or failed quiz follows it automatically for every student.

  1. Set the policy

In class settings, decide how long students have to make up a missed session, how many retakes a failed test allows, and whether makeups need staff approval or book themselves.

  2. When a student misses class

The absence is logged on their attendance tracker and the student sees which sessions qualify as makeups. They book one like any other class, inside your window.

  3. When a student fails a quiz

Retakes follow your limit and passing score. The student sees exactly what they can retake and when. Progress gates hold the next module until they pass.

  4. Keep the record straight

Makeups and retakes are marked on the student record, so state hour reports show real attendance, not papered over gaps.

Tip

A short makeup window keeps cohorts together. Most schools use two weeks.
