Payment plans and balance locks

7 minUpdated August 2026For school owners

What you'll do

You will create installment plans, turn on automatic balance reminders, and decide whether unpaid balances should pause drive booking. All three are settings, not custom work.

  1. Create installment plans

On a program or an individual student, split the price into installments with due dates. Cards on file charge automatically on each date, and families see the full schedule up front.

  2. Turn on balance reminders

Reminders text or email families before each installment and after a missed one. You write the tone once, the system sends them forever. Most schools stop making collection calls entirely.

  3. Decide on balance locks

With locks on, a student with an unpaid balance cannot book their next drive until the balance clears, and booking reopens the moment payment lands. Schools that invoice employers or take cash leave locks off. It is one switch.

  4. Watch the money on the record

Every charge, installment, refund, and cash entry posts to the student's Payments tab with who recorded it. Your books and your student records never disagree.

Tip

Balance locks work best when families know about them at enrollment. Put one line in your enrollment confirmation.
