Take a card payment

5 minUpdated August 2026For school owners

What you'll do

You will collect a payment three ways: charging a card at the front desk, sending the family a payment link, and taking a guest payment from someone who is not on the account.

  1. Charge at the desk

Open the student's Payments tab and choose Take payment. Enter the amount and the card details. The charge posts to the student record immediately with a receipt emailed to the family.

  2. Send a payment link

Choose Send payment link instead and the family gets a text or email with a secure checkout for the exact balance. When they pay, the record updates on its own.

  3. Guest payments

Anyone with the link can pay, no account needed. Grandparents, employers, and caseworkers use this constantly. The payment still lands on the right student with a clean receipt and shows who paid.

  4. Cash and checks

Record cash or a check on the same tab so the balance stays accurate. Every entry is stamped with the staff member who recorded it.

Tip

For split family payments, send the same link to both payers. Each payment posts as its own transaction against the balance.
