What you'll do
You will send a one-off message from the student, and leave automatic drive and class reminders on in School notifications.
Message from the student
Open the student and use Message from the roster card or profile. That is a staff message to that student (and linked family, depending on what you select). Parents cannot reply as a chat from the parent portal. They only see Notifications history.
Broadcast vs automations
Broadcast messages many students. Alerts & Reminders (School notifications) sends Drive reminders, class reminders, fine / invoice messages, and the other listed automations. It does not send waitlist texts.
